We get it. Life gets hectic. Between work, family, and social commitments, keeping your home clean can feel like an impossible task. But it really doesn’t HAVE to be! With a little planning and a consistent approach, you can maintain a clean and organized home without sacrificing your sanity.
I hold a full-time leader position, helping a group of 25-35 receptionists be the best they can be, plus help my hubby run our small family business The Cleaner Corner, maybe you’ve heard of it… 😉. We also have a chocolate lab named Harley and here's my simple cleaning routine.
After I brush my teeth each morning, I wipe out the bathroom sink and wipe off the faucet real quick. It looks so nice and is an immediate mood booster first thing in the morning.
I always make my bed every morning after I get dressed. It makes the room much more tidy and is a great place to sort laundry as it comes out of the dryer.
I also make sure to clean up the kitchen by doing the dishes, and washing off the counters, table and stovetop each night after dinner.
I do all my laundry on Mondays including changing out all bed linens and towels in the bathrooms and kitchen.
Wednesdays and Saturdays I vacuum all carpeted areas. On Saturdays before my vacuum session, I do a quick dusting of all flat surfaces in the house.
On Fridays I give the bathrooms and kitchen a good clean down including sweeping and mopping all hard floors. In the bathrooms each week, I clean the toilets, sinks, countertops and mirrors, as well as the dusting of all flat surfaces. In the kitchen each week, I wipe down the outside of all the appliances and the inside of the microwave as well as the dusting of all flat surfaces.
Biweekly, I wipe the inside of any windows that Harley(our beautiful choc lab) decides to press her nose to, usually low windows and door windows.
Monthly I hit the cabinet handles and door knobs, kick plates and inside of appliances like the oven and fridge.
I also like to do the hi/lo dusting to include hitting the window ledges, baseboards, cobwebs in the corners, ceiling fans and light fixtures.
Some simple tips for success - involve the whole family, assign age-appropriate chores to everyone in the household. Make it fun - put on some upbeat music while you clean. Reward yourself - Treat yourself to a relaxing bath or a cup of coffee once the cleaning is done. And, don't be afraid to ask for help - consider hiring a professional cleaning service for a bi weekly cleaning or a deep clean every few months.
Remember: Consistency is key! Even small, daily efforts can make a big difference.
By incorporating these tips into your weekly routine, you can maintain a clean and organized home without sacrificing your precious free time.
Helping you clean one corner at a time,
Candie
